"I have always been an irritable person. I am—I embrace it—a crank, a person with the soul of a habitual writer of letters of the editor but without the follow-through. Indeed, my inner monologue is at least 63% unsent and unsendable letters to various editors." This made me laugh out loud -- because it's true for me, too.
I'm so happy you're writing to us again and that you are surviving the end of the academic term--not for the faint of heart! Congrats on getting another book out into the world!
I am always happy to read a new post here - and have read all your books with pleasure. Looking forward to your new book especially - it will be out at the beginning of next year, here in the UK.
Ooh! A friend and I meet every two weeks to talk about our fiction, and I just recommended your work to her, as the way that you write character and point of view reminds me of what she is aiming for. I look forward to recommending this, too.
‘…a person with the soul of habitual writer of letters to the editor, but without the follow through.’ I so relate to this. Looking forward to the new book.
My late godfather was a fan of the phrase "ass over teakettle." We were looking at pics one Christmas of his show jumping career. One photo, Denny coming over a Very Big Fence and his horse's front legs are *crossed.* What happened? "Well Char, I went ASS over TEAkettle ..."(Chicago accent).
Thanks for the reminder! I'm heading out the door - right after I finish my cup of tea - to my local independent bookstore. I may just order your book. Congratulations!

Lovely to hear from you again.
Just wanted to say I loved The Souvenir Museum collection. 😎

Your missives make me feel renewed, like I have just been for a swim in a beautiful, uncrowded place.
