Being in water when the sun comes up is a very gentle way to start the day- and a reminder that a satisfied mind is as good as it gets.

Welcome back! I've missed your Barton Springs reports. Day at a time, we'll get through this, together. As Dori said, just keep swimming.

Around the year 2000, someone put a pair of Egyptian Geese in Lake Merritt in Oakland, CA. We have a few Wood Ducks around here, but the Egyptian Geese were new and stood out. The park workers said they were pretty mean.

I, too, love and seek the horizon at dawn.

The crescent was rather bright this morning when the sun was still below the horizon. I've been keeping track of Orion when I take the dog out for a final visit to the out-of-doors but it was still more like dusk than dark so he wasn't visible last night.

I hear you. I picked up a copy of The Hero of This Book. I was avoiding it while my mother's illness deteriorated, but it became unfortunately prescient over the holiday season, and I've grieved enough that I think I can read it now. You keep swimming... I'll keep pedaling.

Glad you have returned safely and the pool is clean. Thank you for sending out these missives. Tonight I needed something to think about besides the annual mess my taxes get themselves into.

I have missed your voice here. This was worth waiting for though. Right now, my resolve to fight is strengthened by the work, by the expressions, of artists I admire. And you have described, as you often do, a scene with such vividness and clarity that it limns vital truths. Thank you.

I have also been ignoring news since March 1. If anything really bad happens, people tell me, and even if they kind of garble it (as I sometimes find out later), it's ok because they convey the deeper meaning of whatever it is. I have begun to realize that news is addictive: it's something people turn to for drama and excitement when they're bored.

Ironically, the people who voted for the present administration are often the most disengaged voters. I guess they thought Trump was entertaining, from afar, since they understood so little about what he was really going to do. They're in for a rude shock, when their friends lose their Medicaid and food stamps.

How could you bear it? Too much, really, the singing - unearthly. I'm glad you were rewarded.
